The Crossings.


The Crossings is a Places of Change scheme for the homeless, providing temporary accommodation with support and training. Purpose built, high-standard en-suite rooms for single occupation with shared communal kitchen. Staff on site 24/7 with secure access and a 24-hour manned reception, secure door entry system and 24-hour CCTV. A one-to-one Support Worker who will develop a tailored Support Plan, with six-weekly reviews. Advice and practical support on health care and finance. Support accessing training, volunteering, education and employment opportunities. Signposting to external support to help with individual needs, such as drug or alcohol treatment.

SWITCH, Hull CVS


SWITCH provides ongoing supervision, training and support to Volunteer Mentors. Volunteers are matched with anyone in housing need who would benefit from the input of a Mentor. Through conversation, setting goals and support Mentors can help people move forward with their lives. Mentors can help with things like accessing and maintaining housing and work, assessing health care, setting up a new home or just providing a listening ear.

Expert Patient Programme.


The Expert Patient Programme is a self management course run via the City Health Care Partnership for individuals with long term health problems or disability such as stroke or brain injury, living with pain, low level depression/anxiety. These courses teach people practical coping skills and techniques needed to become active self managers of their health conditions. The course is 2.5 hours pw for 6 weeks and is free to residents of Hull.

Sanctuary Supported Living


managing two homeless hostels on behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire council, providing supported housing to homeless people or people at risk of becoming homeless. By referral only - ie via another organisation, eg Doctors, Probation, Social Services etc. Referrals are made by the completion of a sanctuary supported living application form, which should be returned to staff at the projects either in person, by post or by email. Emergency accommodation. Our service aims to; equip clients to develop the skills to maintain a tenancy, provide guidance around completing benefit claims, help clients understand the licence agreement, support individuals to find appropriate move-on accommodation and provide enablement to move to more stable and permanent accommodation. Our 2 hostel projects provide short-term (up to 6 months) accommodation for 16-24 yr olds, or adults aged 18+ yrs.

Homelessness Focus Group Tenant Participation Team


Advice on all aspects of tenancy, Training, Social activities. We’re a group formed by tenants and residents who monitor how the Housing service delivers homeless services. We are not a referral service or walk in service - we provide an opportunity for the tenants and residents of the city to attend meetings (volunteer out of pocket expenses rein-burst for travel etc) to become more involved in how Housing deliver homeless services citywide. The monthly meetings which involve monitoring performance information, developing the 'Winter Provision and Health' leaflet and any other activities that help and support external agencies. We do also provide training on housing issues via the Housing Academy and other subjects including Mental Awareness, Drug Awareness for example. Volunteers are always welcome to join via the Hull Housing Tenant Participation Team.
